A geeky historical note on this suburb +

Wiley Park is located 17 kilometres south west of the Sydney central business district; it is part of the local government area of the City of Canterbury.

The 20 acres that is the suburb of Wiley Park, was originally part of a 60 acre grant given in 1832 to Robert Wilkinson. In 1862 the land passed to the Wiley family.

Wiley Park has been named after the reserve of 200 acres left in the will of  J.V. Wiley a shoe maker who died unmarried and without children in 1906. He left the land as a recreational area and park for the local residents.

The park is bounded by Edge Street, Clio Street, King Georges Road and Canterbury Road.

The area is predominantly residential with both houses and small apartment blocks built in the 1960’s and 1970’s. There is a small group of shops near the railways station, and it is not far from the Roselands Shopping Centre.
