A geeky historical note on this suburb +

Mount Kuring-Gai is located 31 kilometres north west of the Sydney central business district; it is in the local government area of Hornsby Shire. It is a northern Sydney suburb.

Ku-ring-Gai is an aboriginal word that means hunting ground of the men. The Ku-ring-gai Aborigines hunted and lived in this area prior to European settlement. In 1903 the railway station was opened at Kur-ring-gai, in 1933 *Mount* was added to the areas name.

The suburb is dived into two by the Sydney to Newcastle F3 Freeway, the Northern Railway line and by the Pacific Highway. Located 7 kilometres north of Hornsby its neighbours include the suburbs of Berowra, and Mount Colah.

Kuring-Gai is mainly known for Kuring-Gai Chase National Park which features a scenic view where visitors may picnic, barbecue, camp (at the Basin campground) and go for a walk. Bordering with the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, there are several bushwalks that start from here including a pathway to Apple Tree Bay and The Great North Walk. Other attractions and things to do in Ku-ring-gai include: Flint & Steel Beach, Ku-ring-gai Wildflower Garden and Ku-ring-gai Fitness & Aquatic Centre.

Mount Ku-ring-gai is residential, though it does have an industrial area which is home to many businesses.
