Airds is a Sydney suburb located about 56 kilometres south-west of the Sydney CBD in the local government area of the City of Campbelltown and is part of the Macarthur region.

This is a mostly residential area and the majority of houses within the suburb are owned by the New South Wales Department of Housing.

Governor Lachlan Macquarie named the region Airdsafter the Scottish family estate belonging to his wife Elizabeth Campbell.

However, the name was nor formally approved until May 1976. Like many public housing estates in Sydney, Airds was constructed on American Radburn principles designed to segregate traffic and pedestrians. As a result, houses in the suburb faced away from roads, which has contributed to problems relating to crime and passive surveillance.
