Roseville is located 12 kilometres north west of the Sydney central business district; it is in the local government areas of both Ku-ring-gai Council and the City of Willoughby. Roseville is in the upper north shore area of Sydney and Roseville Chase is a separate suburb to the east.

One of the first settlers in this area was farmer Henry King. There were numerous market gardens and fruit orchards in the area.

Roseville is the southern-most suburb in the municipality of Ku-ring-gai; it is surrounded by the suburbs of Lindfield, Macquarie Park, Chatswood West, East Lindfield, Chatswood, Roseville Chase, Castle Cove and North Willoughby.

Roseville is a predominantly residential area with lush and leafy roadsides, gardens and low density housing. The government is considering placing Roseville under a heritage listing due to many of the homes and gardens dating back to the 1950’s. Roseville now is the home to DJI Electronics Store, Louise Alvarez Couture, Peter Trends Bridal, Calibrate Coffee and Magda’s Euro Delocatessen.

The Roseville Railway station is on the North Shore Line of the City Rail Network.
