Quakers Hill Historical Note:
Quakers Hill is located 40 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district; it is in the local government area of the City of Blacktown, and is part of the Greater Western Sydney region.
Quakers Hill is a mix of old and new developments. There are the housing commission homes on the older southern side of the suburb closer to Marayong. Homes on the western side of the railway line are residential homes built when the HMAS Nirimba was an active naval base. To the eastern side most of the homes there have been built since the 1980’s and are mostly townhouses or high density homes.
The area is home to a variety of educational institutions and schools. In 1912 the Quakers Hill Public school opened, two others opened in the 1990’s to cope with the growth in population – Barnier and Hambledon. Quakers Hill High School, Wyndham College. Nirimba TAFE College and the University of Western Sydney.
Now Quakers Hill is home to Radhe Grocery Store, Homers, Laing & Simmons, Quakers Court Shopping Centre, Quakers Inn, The Corner Shop Cafe, Tyrepower and many more businesses.
