Mona Vale Historical Note:

Mona Vale is located 28 kilometres north of the Sydney central business district; it is the administrative centre for the local government area of Pittwater Council, it is also part of the Northern Beaches region.

The area was once known by the Aborigines as Bongin Bongin.

In April 1813 the first land grants were given in this area. The area that is now Mona Vale was given to Robert Campbell, in May of the following year he had the land surveyed it extended from Mona Vale to the end of Newport Beach. It is thought that the town of Mona Vale in Scotland may have influenced his choice of name for the area.

Mona Vale became the administrative centre for Pittwater Council in 2005 when it moved from the council chambers in Warriewood.

There are many facilities in Mona Vale including a RSL Club, two schools, golf course, a public library, bus depot, Skate Park, two supermarkets and a hospital
