Harrington Park is located 60 kilometres from the Sydney central business district, it is in the local government area of Camden Council, and it is part of the Macarthur region. Once a grand estate owned by the Fairfax Family, it has been developed into a residential suburb, the smaller Harrington Park Estate is still run and owned by the Fairfax’s

The area was originally home to the Muringong people. Captain William Douglas Campbell was granted 2000 acres here in 1813. He named his property Harrington Park after his ship the Harrington. When Captain Campbell died in 1827 he left Harrington Park to his nephews from Scotland John and Murdock. The property changed hands many times over the years till 1944 when Sir Warwick Oswald Fairfax bought Harrington Park and the adjacent property. Renovations on the homestead were carried out and in the 1950’s he set up a nursery specialising in roses, camellias and imported flowers
