East Lindfield is located 13 kilometres North West of the Sydney central business district, this Upper North Shore suburb is in the local government area of the Ku-ring-gai Council

Settled in the 1850’s Lindfield means Lime Tree Field. The name is derived from the property *Lindfield*. Mr List  an early settler and land owner named his house in honour of Lindfield in Sussex England. In the early 1890’s when the railway line came through the name of the property was used to identify both the station and the surrounding neighbourhood.

East Lindfield is defined as part of the suburb which is west of Archbold Road. With suburban development not beginning there till the 1950’s and 1960’s most of the houses in East Lindfield are newer and much different in style to the homes in Lindfield proper which mostly pre date WW2.

East Lindfield is surrounded by neighbouring suburbs Killara, Lindfield, Roseville, East Killara, Roseville Chase, Forestville and Killarney Heights.
