Blairmount Historical Note:
Blairmount is Located 58 kilometers south west of the Sydney central business district; it is part of the Macarthur region and is under the local government of the City of Campbelltown. The main road is called Clydesdale Drive, and all the other streets are named after breeds of horse.
The history of this area began over 40,000 years ago and the land still contains remnants of the Tharawal people. Their culture has been preserved in rock engravings, axe grinding grooves and shell middens.
In the early 19th century British settlers began to move into the area establishing orchards and farms. In 1928 Frank Young bought the property now known as Blairmount turning it into a horse stud specializing in Clydesdale horses. In the 1980’s the area began to redevelop into housing and a school was opened in 1983.
Blairmount’s neighbouring suburbs include Catherine Field, Currans Hill, Blair Athol, Eschol Park, Eagle Vale, Campbeltown, Claymore and Woodbine.
