Dandenong is a  suburb of Melbourne located 29 km south-east from the central district of the city. The area it’s under the local government of the City of Greater Dandenong local government area.. According to the 2016 census the suburb had a population of 29,906 inhabitants. The suburb is the first which was planed for the Melbourne 2030 strategy.

The Woiwurrung Indigenous Australian tribe occupied the territory at first. The location is name after a derivate of the Woiwurrung word “Tanjenong” meaning “lofty mountains”.

In 1837 one of the first settlers of the area established a pastoral run on Narra Narrawong. It was an important spot for Grippsland travellers and became known as the “gateway to Grippsland”. Dandegon market started in 1863 selling farms products in general. The municipality built the Dandenong Town Hall in 1890 on Lonsdale Street. They respected the Free Classical style.

During the post WWI period, the suburb knew a rapid industrial expansion. Lot of Europeans settled in the city. Later, during the 21st century, the suburb became one of the major activity center in Melbourne. Lot of rebuilt operations was launched to modernize Dandenong.

Furthermore, the city is bordered by the Dandenong Ranges. It’s a famous place to follow trails track and have peace walks if you are an nature adept. On another handm for sport player you can choose to join a large variety of clubs including crickets, footie or even rugby!
