Box Hill North historical note

Box Hill North is a suburb of Melbourne located 14 km east far from the CBD. The suburb it’s under the local government of the city of Whitehorse. According to the 2016 census the suburb had a population of 11,874.

The first post office opened in the area in 1861 but the residential expansion started after the WWII. The Wesleyan Methodist Chapel was built in 1858 with the local stone of Box Hill North and remain to be the oldest building in the suburb.

There is two primary public school and one catholic in the suburb. There is also one secondary school and one high school. Many shops opened in the suburb during the post war development.
