In this entry of the computer repairs how to blog we will talk about disabling power management on Windows 7. This trick also works for Vista.
Since you are reading this, I take it that there is a good chance that when using computer you do not fancy it going into sleep mode on its own accord. This has happened, people. It is especially true if you are running Vista or Windows 7 in a virtual machine just for testing purposes. (just keep reading if you did not get this last sentence, not essential)
Your Step 1 will be this – Click the *Power Icon* and then open the *More Power Options*
Under the “Additional plans” section, pick High Performance, then “Change plan settings”:
Simply change everything to “Never”, and do not forget to save the changes or you will need to start again:
This is how you do it in Vista
Step-1 – Go to the Control Panel.
Pick the System and Maintenance link:
Then open the Power Options link:
Your choice should be High Performance:
