Yennora Historical Note:

Yennora is located 29 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district; it is in the local government area of the City of Fairfield and is a part of the Greater Western Sydney region.

The area was once home to the Cabrogal Aboriginal people, a sub-group of the Gandangara tribe. Yennora is an Aboriginal word meaning *to stroll* or *walking*.

Settlement began in the Fairfield area in the early 19th century. In 1927 a siding platform was built by the New South Wales Railway department and given the name Yennora. In 1955 the public school opened, and in 1971 the Wool Stores were established here.

The Yennora railways station is on the south railway line of the city rail network. A large portion of Yennora is an industrial area and includes the Yennora Distribution Centre. The centre connects to the old main south railway and is used by QRNational for freight services between Melbourne and Brisbane.
