Wisemans Ferry Historical Note:

Wisemans Ferry is located 75 kilometres north west of the Sydney central business district; it is in the local area government areas of Hornsby Shire, The Hills Shire, the City of Gosford and the City of Hawkesbury.

The town is a popular tourist spot with picnic and BBQ facilities, there is a rich colonial heritage to the area and the Yengo National Park and Dharug National Park are close by.

The town has been named after former convict Solomon Wiseman who received a land grant in the area in 1817 from Governor Macquarie. In 1827 Wiseman established a ferry service on the Hawkesbury River which allowed for the transportation of provisions and produce to the convicts building the Great North Road. To many Wiseman was known as the King of the Hawkesbury.

Today two ferry services cross the Hawkesbury River from the town of Wisemans  Ferry.

Neighbouring areas include Colo Heights, Webbs Creek, Leets Vale, Lower Macdonald, Maroota, and Laughtondale
