Rosemeadow Historical Note:
Rosemeadow is located 56 kilometres south west of the Sydney central business district; it is in the local government area of the City of Campbelltown and is part of the Macarthur region.
Rosemeadow has been named after an early settler Thomas Rose. In 1818 he bought a farm by the name of Mount Gilead. Rose was a publican, a banker and a farmer, he built a small mill on his property and a couple of large dams which helped during the drought of 1829, both Thomas and his neighbours were able to survive.
Until the mid 1970’s the area remained as farmland, in 1976 the suburb was officially named. As the urban sprawl reached the area a public housing estate was built to cope with the growing population. In 2009 the estate was partially demolished.
Rosemeadow has a medium sized shopping centre, high school, fire station and Anglican Church
