Lalor Park Historical Note:

Lalor Park is located 35 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district; it is in the local government area of the City of Blacktown and is part of the Greater Western Sydney region.

The suburb has been named after the Lalor family who owned property in the area. Two members of the family – Robert and George were councillors on what was back then Blacktown Shire Council. George served as Shire President twice, during 1921-1923 and again in 1928.

The area was originally known as Seven Hills West, but, in 1959 when the area was being developed by the housing commission it became known as Lalor Park.

Lalor Park is predominantly a residential area there is a small shopping centre at the junction of Freeman Street and Northcott Road. With a supermarket, newsagent, pharmacy and about 30 more small shops.

The area is home to three schools – Lalor Park Preschool, Lalor Park Public School and St Bernadette’s Primary.
