A suburb of South Western Sydney Ambarvale is located 55 kilometers South West of the central business district. Located in the local government area of the City of Campbelltown and is a part of the Macarthur region. The suburb is predominantly residential with a mix private and public housing.

The suburb gets its name from a property established in 1816 by a former convict Samuel Larkin. The property was where the current St Helens Park is located. One of the earliest properties was a dairy farm by the name of Glen Lora. The new suburb of Ambarvale was officially opened in 1976 after all the farms in the area were sold for housing.

This history of the area however began over 40,000 years ago, by the Tharawal people. The area still contains traces of their past lives with axe grinding grooves, shells and cave paintings found.
