Dromana is a small town of Melbourne located 75 km south from the central district of the city. Also, the area it’s under the local government of the Shire of Mornington Peninsula. According to the 2016 census the suburb had a population of 5,803 inhabitants.

In 1841, taking advantages of the Special Surveys regulations, Hugh Jamieson purchased a major part of the territory. Historians suppose that some Irish places inspired the name of Dromada. The first post office opened in 1858 and the first subdivision of the suburb occured in 1854. Later, Dromada became designated as a seaside resort. Also, Spencer Jackson was an important contributor for the town development. In 1929, he invested money in the construction of a road to the summit of Arthur Seats.

Dromana Hotel remain to be one of the oldest building in the town. The development of Arthur seats involved cutting and sawing work. Furthermore, in 1974 Christie Public Barbecue established a factory in the town.

Nowadays the town is known for its several vineyards But also for the Dromonana Drive-In cinema. On another hand, you will find a large variety of cafes, restaurants and locals’shops. Finally, it’s a good spot for tourism during the holidays.
