Balaclava historical note

Balaclava is an inner suburb of Melbourne, located 7 km away in the south of the central district of the city. This suburb is part of the local government of the City of Port Phillip. According to the census of 2016 Balaclava had a population of 5,396.

The name of the town originates from the battle of Balaclava which happened in 1850s. Lot of streets are named after Crimean War battles. One of them is named directly “Crimean Street”. The famous Graham Kenedy grew in this suburb.
