Albion is a small suburb of Melbourne, located 14 km west from the business district of the city. It’s part of the government of City of Brimbank. Back in 2016 Albion had a population of 4,731. The Sunshine suburb almost surrounding Albion.

The first name of this suburb was “Darlington” from 1860 to 1890. Lot of street are named after English counties and placenames. The Albion Quarrying Company founded in 1885 and became a central place for the economy of the suburb.

Almost a century later, this disused place was used by the famous rock band AC\DC for their clip of the music “Jailbreak”. In the first decades of the 20^th century, H.V. Mc Kay of the Sunshine Harvest Work bought some lands in Albion to develop a residential community. He wanted to follow the Garden city movement established back in 19^th century with a town planning project.

Nowadays, Albion possess lot of period homes such as California bungalows and 1940s weatherboard houses. The suburb still contains houses build by Mc Kay as part of his Sunshine Estate.  The Kororoit Creek provide the western border of Albion. It’s good place to observe a large variety of reptile’s species, including Tiger snakes or Eastern Blue-tongued Lizard. You can also observe lot of frogs in near to the lakes of this area. Unfortunately, due to the urban development these species began rare in the area. But, if you love hiking, the Kororoit Creek Trail still a good path to see flora and fauna. On another side you can visit the Stony creek on the eastern edge of Albion.

You can find a variety of different places in Albion, such as three different church and lot of sport facilities to practice football, cricket, tennis and even kart! There is a total of three school in this suburb : two primary school and one kindergarten.
