Do you provide software and hardware?

We can source and install any software and hardware that you might require. Most of what you may need we will have on hand, however, on occasion, we may need to order a specialist piece of equipment. Our extensive industry networks and a long-standing relationship with reputable suppliers will generally ensure that you will not need to wait long.

How do I prevent data loss?

It pays to do something about data loss before it occurs rather than waiting until problems actually arise. It is much easier to backup your computer than it is to retrieve lost information! We are committed to ensuring that our clients backup their data and we can show you a number of solutions to make this a simple, automated process. What does your fee cover?

Our fees cover only labour costs and use of any necessary tools and/or software owned by us to make the repairs possible. Our fees do not cover any replacement parts, hardware and/or software. Our standard fees also do not cover data backup by us. You will be reminded to back up your data prior to the technician’s arrival. If you choose to require Mobile Geeks perform this service for you, an additional charge may be applied. We operate under the following eight principles that have made us successful over the years:

How long will it take to fix my computer problems?

Our Mobile Geeks work efficiently and get the job done fast to make sure you are back on track quickly. The length of time it takes to resolve your computer problems depends on the job at hand, although we can generally finish repairs within the first hour. If not, you can rest assured that we will always give you a quote on how much the service is likely to cost, so that you will never be hit with any unexpected bills at the end. The majority of our repairs are done on site. However, if we do need to take your computer away, we will strive to have it back to you the very next day and give you a conditional quote before we go ahead.

Can Mobile Geeks fix my computer on site?

Nine out of ten times we will be able to fix your computer on site. Sometimes, however, we may need to part you and your machine. If this must happen, we will do it only with your express agreement and will strive to have it back to you on the same day. Our technicians will also provide you with a conditional quote before undertaking any off site work.

What should I do if my computer crashes?

If your computer crashes, will not start or you get the infamous ‘blue screen of death’, then the more you try to turn it on or ‘fix’ it, the worse you may make the problem. The best thing to do in this situation is to take a deep breath, step away form the computer and call in a specialist. This is especially important if you think you may have lost some data. The more you try to fix the problem the more you will increase the chances of your computer writing over the sector where your data is stored. What if my computer needs to have a Windows operating system reinstalled? What do I need to know and what steps can I take to prepare for this?

In some cases, a complete format of the hard drive and reinstallation of the operating system may be required. You will be reminded to back up your computer before the arrival of the technician. If you choose to have us provide you with the data back up service, additional charges may apply. To prepare for a Mobile Geek visit, please gather all of the CDs or installation disks that came with your computer. You will also want to make a list of where important data files are stored so we can perform a data backup for you faster.
