Hello lovely people 🙂
In this computer repairs blog, I have decided to explain how you can create a shortcut that will allow you to turn on or off the transparency in Windows Vista. I just feel it is another of those little secrets that is sure to be of interest to at least one or two of you.
This tip is really nothing new and has been around for quite some time. The misunderstanding comes from the fact that this trick does not turn off Aero or the compositing engine, it only disables the transparency.
You can get the same result by right clicking on the desktop – chose *Personalise* and then *Window colour and appearance*
You will see the “Enable transparency” checkbox in this screen, which works immediately.
How to create Aero Transparency Shortcut
Right-click anywhere on the desktop and choose New Shortcut,
Then enter in one of the following into the Location box to create the new shortcut.
Turn Aero Transparency Off
rundll32.exe dwmApi #104
Turn Aero Transparency On
rundll32.exe dwmApi #102
Just for the purposes of showing you what it looks like we have the same screenshot with Aero transparency turned both on and off.
Here is it with Aero Transparency On:
And with Aero Transparency Off:
Have fun and I hope this computer repairs blog was of interest.
