Whilst computer repair tools are free and easy to obtain – both as downloads from the internet, or free *gifts* on the covers of PC magazines. The software you get with these computer magazines is usually pretty safe to use, we do however suggest you take care when downloading software from the Internet – you need to be certain the site you are downloading from is safe.

Unfortunately, the Internet is full of people looking to access the files you have on your computer, and what better way to do that than to offer you software that when you click only gives others the access they were after. The last thing you want to do is download software that will make your computer ill. So, you have your computer repair tool, what do you do next?

The first and arguably the most valuable computer repairs software you need is your back up disk. Second to that is the operating system start up disk.

You also really need the full operating system installation disk itself. With so many computers now being sold without actual disks, if you can get a hold of one, they are definitely worth getting.

The next important repair software is a registry cleaner. While free registry cleaners are available all over the place, do you know what the REGISTRY actually is? And, what the registry cleaner will actually do?

Think of the registry as the brain of your computer. Just as you own brain has imprinted on it everything you may have heard or seen, the registry has been imprinted with every change you have ever made to your computer. The computer keeps track of things on the registry if you want to run a program and the computer cannot find it in the registry it cannot be opened.

Basically, you have been warned, fool around with the registry at your own risk.

It does not take long for the registry to get clogged up with too much information, so, when you need to search through the registry it runs slowly while trying to sort through so much clutter. It is probably the single biggest cause for a computer to run or start up slowly.

Registry cleaners pretty much check each item in the registry and make a list of all the items it thinks you do not need any more – it then deletes it. If it gets it correct, your PC will run and start up a lot faster – unfortunately if Ii is wrong, you are in trouble.

The better cleaners will give you a list of items that can be removed and asks you if you want to delete them. While others just automatically remove items, with just a basic warning at the end of the program that states that the makers of the program do not take any responsibility if your computer does not work afterwards. Giving you a list is good and helpful, but unless you know what you are looking at this list probably has little value. Do not just assume the program knows what it is doing by suggesting certain items for deletion – you could press okay and still end up in trouble.

Basically, you should have some sort of basic knowledge of how both your operating system and computer work if you do, then, computer repair tools are okay to use. However, if you are not that good around computers then using a computer repair tool can cause more heartache than they are worth. If that sounds like you, the best thing to do is to call you computer repair geeks. Try 1300 883 021 🙂
